- Veritas Forum
- Featuring Dr. Roald Hoffman (Cornell) and Dr. Praveen Sethupathy (University of NC, Chapel Hill)
Where does morality come from? Isn’t science rapidly approaching a complete explanation of nature? Do you ever have doubts about your worldview? Where can I find meaning and fulfillment? College students around the world are asking themselves and their friends these questions, but there is often no real place to explore these questions alongside brilliant faculty and leading thinkers. Veritas Forums are events that engage students and faculty in discussions about life’s hardest questions and the relevance of Jesus Christ to all of life.
- Winter Retreat Dates
- Winter retreat will be from January 15-17, 2015. This is a great time for us to take a step back and be refreshed in Christ before the start of the Spring semester. More details will be released later, but keep the date in mind if you are purchasing flight tickets.
- Operation Christmas Child
- A small shoebox can have a big impact. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it is eternal. Be a part of changing children’s lives all over the world in Jesus’ Name through the power of a simple gift with Operation Christmas Child.
- CBS will be taking part in Operation Christmas Child this year after large group on November 14. We will be collecting donations to purchase supplies and other gifts that will be going in the shoeboxes. There will be a donation collection box at large group this week and you can donate online here as well! Each box costs approximately $7 to ship.
Article of the Week
Prayer Requests
- Pray for the political unrest between Ukraine and Russia that they are able to communicate with one another and resolve the issues surrounding the pro-Russian rebel’s recent elections and more.
- Pray for the judgment of the leaders of Iraq and US as they join forces to tackle ISIS and that the two cultures are respectful of one another.
- Pray for the re-arising conflict surrounding Ferguson. Pray that this recent outburst of shock in response to the muffling of media is able to be resolved.
- Pray for Cornell and other universities’ administration as they determine how to best deal with sexual violence on campuses.
- Pray for Al-bu Nimr, a Sunni tribe in Iraq and the Islamic State. There have been mass killings and kidnappings of members of Al-Bu Nimr tribe because of tribe resistance to IS militants. Pray for the families affected by this and that the tribe will find peace and still have hope in the midst of their suffering.
In Christ,
Stephen & Jevon
Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:8-9)
