Each year at CBS, a new vision is set by the coordinators as a focus and direction for the fellowship. This is determined over time with much prayer, seeking the Lord’s will, and discerning the needs within the fellowship.
Our vision verse for this academic year is Colossians 3:1-4:
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
From this passage, our vision for CBS is that we would grow into a fellowship that has an eternal perspective, focused on who we are in God and how we are building his kingdom. In prayerfully considering the needs of the fellowship after this past year, we kept coming back to the need for God at the center of our lives–in conversations and community, in work, and in our individual pursuits of Him. We want to ground our lives in a firm understanding of what it means to be raised with Christ. We hope that by understanding Jesus’ sacrifice and our salvation in him, we can be encouraged to live lives that are set apart, with Christ as sufficient, sustaining, and our unifying hope. On the one hand, we hope that God will use this to enable us to walk in holiness both as individuals and in fellowship with others. And on the other hand, we hope that this vision will challenge us to die to ourselves, not idolizing earthly things, but, in the freedom of Christ, seeking first the glory of God.
