Making Disciples in the Everyday Stuff of Life

Song of the Week

Memory Verse of the Week

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. (1 John 4:9-11)

Last week: Proverbs 4:23

Prayer Requests & Praises

  • Pray for the students attending Slope day that they may be prudent in their decisions to engage in certain activities and that they would take care of themselves. Pray for the volunteers that we may be supplied with energy and patience when dealing with the festivities and chaos of Slope Day. Pray for members of the Christian community who are volunteering that day that we would be able to show what Christ love looks like to the Cornell Community.
  • Continue to pray for Nepal as the earthquake has impacted many lives. Pray that God will continue to provide resources and support for this country to rebuild what it has loss and rise up. Praise God for the support Nepal has already.
  • There has been a shooting at a drawing contest which showed controversial cartoons of Muslim Prophet Mohammad in Texas by two men one of which may have been an ISIS supporter. Please pray for the families affected by this incident and that people will be careful to make quick judgements against Muslim.

In Christ,

Stephen & Jevon

How to Practice a Gospel-Centered Spirituality

Song of the Week

Memory Verse of the Week

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. (Proverbs 4:23)

Last week: Romans 12:1-2

Prayer Requests & Praises

  • Thank the Lord for all the courage He has been supplying His people overseas, that despite such fear from targeted terrorist attacks from groups like ISIS and Al-Shabaab, these believers hold fast to their faith in our Father. Pray for such continued faith and that we are also able to fight the good fight.
  • Praise God for all the support the media has been pouring out to the people of Nepal. Pray that all the donations and time will be used wisely in assisting these people. May the Lord’s people reach out and show God’s love to them helping the Nepali people regain their footing. Here is a link to provide financially to the need: (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/rebuilding-nepal-immediate-relief-fund-15)
  • Praise God for constantly providing for all of our needs throughout all of the semester and for the future. Pray for the CBS freshmen class as they are in the midst of felly dinner preparation. May they not become overwhelmed by the logistics and serve with love.
  • Thank God for this campus that has been able to stand for 150 years. Thank the Lord for this place and for the celebration. Pray that we will continue to be a light on this campus!

Smartphone Addiction and Our Spiritual ADD

Song of the Week

Memory Verse of the Week

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.  Do not be conformed to this world,  but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:1-2)

Last week: Romans 10:14-15

Prayer Requests & Praises

  • Pray for our brothers and sisters in Libya who are being persecuted for their faith. Pray that as they are being tested that they would be still and have a strong foundation in God.
  • Pray for CBS and CBS servant team as they are thinking about who to ask to serve CBS next year. May those asked be ready to be equipped in their hearts to serve God and that CBS is supportive of the new leadership in the coordinators and servant team.
  • Thank the Lord for all the support and love students have been pouring out onto the students affected by the fire on Stewart Ave. May those affected be able to feel God’s love and that recovery go smoothly.
  • Praise God for all the evangelistic events that happened this weekend: Nabeel Qureshi and Coffeehouse. May we not leave those curious alone after these events, that we follow up and grow them up to be disciples.

In Christ,

Stephen & Jevon
